Spark Liquid, formulated by veterinarians, is a fast and effective energy and electrolyte source to ensure optimum results for rehydration, replenishment and recovery.

An essential tool in times of extreme temperature, as a first aid supplement for sick, stressed or injured birds, and is also an invaluable tool for birds in transport or on show.

Why do we recommend Spark Liquid?

During times of heat stress (e.g. birds have their wings out, are mouth-breathing and are down on the ground) birds are undergoing changes in their body chemistry. Their blood pH is altering, their sodium and potassium levels are out of kilter and their fluid balance is incorrect. While we struggle to control the temperature, we must also help the birds return to normal as soon as possible – this is why we use electrolytes!

When we are talking about electrolytes - it is balance that is key. Not only do all body cells require electrolytes to function correctly, they require certain amounts of each type of electrolyte.

Along with the supplementation of electrolytes, Vetafarm Spark Liquid also includes vital carbohydrates that will greatly improve the recovery from stress, travelling, illness, and, of course, heat.

Add 20mL per 1L of drinking water.

VETAFARM CALCIVET

Calcium is a vital nutrient needed for all stages of breeding and the development of young chicks. Calcivet provides birds with a highly digestible form of liquid calcium and vitamin D3, needed for shell formation, laying and bone development. This supplement is essential in any serious breeders feeding regime.

Symptoms of calcium deficiency include: Dystocia/Egg Binding, soft or thin shelled eggs, flight issues, lack of coordination during flight, legs spread further apart, leg weakness, seizures, drooping wings and biting/aggression.

Calcivet has been formulated to supplement the diet of birds where calcium and Vitamin D3 may be low. It will also support breeding birds and their young with essential calcium. Vitamin D3 maximises calcium absorption in the gut.

Calcium supports shell formation and the normal development of bones in young birds. Regular use of Calcivet in seed eating birds will ensure adequate calcium for strong bones, muscle formation and general wellbeing.

Directions:

Water: Add 5mL per 250mL of drinking water (1 tsp per cup). Use as the sole source of water and prepare fresh solution daily.

Seed: Pour 5mL over 1 cup soaked seed

Direct dose: 0.2mL (4 drops) per 100g body weight

Nutritional supplement for cage & aviary birds including canaries, finches, parrots & pigeons. Feed to breeding adults, weaning chicks or birds on a seed-based diet.

Directions: Feed as a moist crumble, or mixed with diced vegetables, soaked seed or other moist foods. Prepare food fresh each day to avoid microbial contamination. Can also be fed dry.

To feed as a moist crumble:

Mix 10g (1 scoop) of powder with approx. 3mL (½ tsp) of water 

Slowly add water to the powder while mixing with a fork to form a moist, crumbly mix.

To feed with soaked seed or vegetables:

Mix 10g (1 scoop) of powder with 20g (2 scoops) diced veg or soaked seed

Other foods such as finely chopped greens, fruit, mashed hard-boiled egg or sprouted seed can be used, depending on bird preference. Add a little extra water to moisten the mix if necessary.

Weaning

Egg & Biscuit is ideal for weaning young from Hand Rearing Food on to a solid diet. Offer as a moist crumble or veg mix once young are fully-feathered and starting to self-feed.

Conversion to Pellets or Crumbles

Birds will readily convert from Egg & Biscuit to Crumbles/Parrot Pellets by mixing the products together, then gradually increasing the proportion of crumbles/pellets.
